Dear Nadine, as an Equity member since 1960, I’m keen to convey my great admiration for your realisation of Jean in the Dr. Blake Mysteries. I’ve waxed lyrical about it to Craig McLachlan too, as one who learned a lot through 60 operatic roles in 4 languages performed in UK, USA, Asia and Australia You are giving me so much particular pleasure in your ideal portrayal of Jean. I applaud too your support of fair conditions for Australian artists vis-a-vis imports, which is a cause I too have supported avidly through Equity. All success to you, from she who as mother of 2 girls, now chiefly Grandma to a boy and girl here and a boy in UK. Brava for your clever juxtaposition of motherhood AND stardom – they’ll thank you for your specialness all the more as time passes, seeing that you are not solely their special mother, but also, several other characters, just as successfully! That’s how it’s been for lucky me. Continuing success be yours and again, bravissima for your Jean. Joan Carden, A.O., O.B.E. “The People’s Diva”, Lilyfield, NSW.

Joan, this site unfortunately has no connection to Nadine Garner. But thank you for your kind words regarding Nadine.
