ABC has issued a press release regarding Series Two filming of “The Doctor Blake Mysteries”. Credit to TV Tonight for the press release.

The Doctor Blake Mysteries will begin filming a second series in late July with a further ten episodes.

Returning are Craig McLachlan as Dr Lucien Blake, Nadine Garner as housekeeper Jean Beazley, Cate Wolfe as district nurse Mattie O’Brien and Joel Tobeck as Chief Superintendent Matthew Lawson.

In series two, Doctor Blake encounters mysteries around every corner; the church, politics, art, rock’n’roll. Nothing is sacred and no one is safe.

ABC TV Head of Fiction, Carole Sklan said “Craig McLachlan and the talented team at December Media have created a terrific maverick character in Doctor Blake and we are thrilled to see him back with co-stars Nadine Garner, Joel Tobeck and Cate Wolfe.”

December Media’s Head of Drama and series creator, George Adams, said,
“We are delighted the doctor is back in the house and once again he is opening a medicine cabinet full of murder and mystery set against the iconic backdrop of Ballarat in the late 1950s. We cannot wait to get started.”

Writers Stuart Page and Chelsea Cassio return and Marcia Gardner and Pete McTighe join the writing team.

Declan Eames and Ian Barry will again direct and this series will also see episodes directed by Lee Rogers and Pino Amenta.

Filming on series two will commence in Victoria on 29 July 2013.
